Payroll
Pay your staff every month with PAYE, pension and NHF worked out, send payslips by link, and get the files to pay and remit.
Set up
- 1Give your business name and the state your staff pay PAYE in, and your pay day. Payslips show the name and address.
- 2Choose what applies: pension (required with three or more staff), the National Housing Fund, NSITF and ITF. Outside Nigeria, choose Somewhere else and set up your own deductions as a share of gross or basic pay.
- 3Add each person with their monthly basic, housing and transport, any other allowances, and their bank and pension details. Their take-home pay is worked out as you type.
- 4Rent relief lowers PAYE: enter the rent a person pays a year. A fifth of it, up to ₦500,000, comes off their taxable income. Keep their rent receipts.
- 5A staff loan or advance goes under Regular deductions. Give the number of months left and it stops on its own.
Each month
- 1Start the month's pay run. Everyone employed that month is added; anyone who joined or left part way is paid for the days they worked.
- 2Open a person to add a bonus, overtime or a one-off deduction, or leave them out this month. A bonus is taxed at their top rate.
- 3Hired someone after starting? Update from staff brings the draft up to date and keeps what you added.
- 4Approve to lock the figures. Then download the bank file for your bank's bulk transfer, the workbook with every schedule, or all the payslips.
- 5Email payslips sends each person a private link to their own payslip; the email never shows the amounts.
- 6Once the money has gone, mark the run as paid: loan instalments count down by one. Until then, Reopen takes it back to a draft.
Paying on what you deducted
- 1The pay run and the overview show what to pay on, to whom and by when: PAYE to your state's revenue service by the 10th of the next month, pension to each person's administrator within seven working days of pay day, NHF and NSITF within the month after.
- 2The workbook has a sheet for each, with every person's name, ID and amount, ready for the portal or the bank.
PAYE calculator
- 1The Calculator tab, and the free page at /paye-calculator, work out take-home pay from gross, or the gross a take-home needs, with the tax shown band by band.
Good to know
- The Free plan pays up to five people at once; paid plans pay more.
- Figures follow the Nigeria Tax Act 2025 from 1 January 2026. They are a careful guide, not tax advice: check anything unusual with a tax adviser.
- Salaries are paid from your own bank. ToolkitDeck never holds your money or your staff's.
