What to put in it

  • Name each deliverable, like "Logo, three concepts and final files", not just "Design work".
  • Say how many rounds of changes the price includes, so extra rounds can be billed later.
  • State when the client may start using the files: usually once the invoice is paid.
  • Ask for a deposit on bigger jobs. Make a quote first, then turn it into an invoice.

Questions people ask

Should I charge per hour or per project?

Per project is easier for clients to approve, and you keep the reward for working fast. Put the hours on the invoice only if the client asked for an hourly price.

Do I need to add VAT?

Only if your business is registered for VAT. If it is, set the tax on each line, and the invoice works out the total.

Is this invoice template free?

Yes. Make and send up to 10 invoices, quotes or receipts a month on the Free plan, and drafts never count.

Can I use my own logo and bank details?

Yes. Add them once in your business details and they go on every document you make.
